The dog is in the picture because the dog likes the warmth of the radiant floor on her bones. Kitchens are a perfect place for a radiant floor- first because after all the cabinets are installed there is usually no place left for a radiator, and second because humans, especially those cooking, or even sitting doing homework at the kitchen table, want warmer feet and cooler heads and that is the exact profile a radiant floor provides.
We installed the gas cooktop and the nice deep sink and we moved pipes in the wall behind it so there could be windows and a good view of the garden to compensate the person stuck doing the dishes.
